Using Opportunities to Showcase Your Strengths, Expand Your Network, and Gain Positive Visibility to Senior Leadership

My two biggest strengths are my ability to influence and my strategic planning ability. I am currently working on an organization-wide capital project to expand our hospital’s epilepsy services by expanding our EMU (epilepsy monitoring unit) from 2 beds to 5 beds.  Half of the unit’s funding has been through our hospital’s Foundation.  The remaining funds are through the hospital.  I have been able to work with almost every department in the hospital, the hospital and Foundation Boards, community and regional organizations as well as system-level team members to accomplish this project.  I have conducted countless meetings and presentations to obtain approval and funding for the project.  The two aforementioned skills have grown through this experience, and I have been able to not only gain positive visibility through my hospital but also through the health system.  Being able to instill passion and energy in others by conveying the importance of the project as it relates to better patient care and hospital growth is one of the most rewarding experiences I have had so far in my career.
