Cie Armstead, DBA, builds upon more than 28 years’ experience in association management and as an innovative D&I leader. In November 2015, she joined the American College of Healthcare Executives (ACHE) to become its first Diversity & Inclusion Director. One of her major accomplishments with ACHE has been leading the initiative to develop the Executive Diversity Career Navigator, an online resource created in collaboration with five national healthcare groups. Previously, Cie served as Diversity Center Director at the American Bar Association (ABA), where she provided substantive consultation to internal ABA entities, as well as bar associations across the country. During her 24-year tenure with the ABA, Cie held several other positions including Senior Staff Advisor to the ABA President and Director of Litigation Section Periodicals. Cie is a frequent presenter, writer, and consultant on D&I and association management topics, specializing in evidence-based practices and creating collaborative initiatives to achieve D&I objectives. She chairs the D&I Task Force of the American Society of Association Executives (ASAE) Research Committee, and previously served as chair of ASAE’s D&I Committee. She has also held several leadership positions with Association Forum of Chicagoland. Cie earned an undergraduate Journalism degree from Northwestern University, a Master’s in Public Administration from Roosevelt University, and a Doctorate in Business Administration, specializing in Industrial Organizational Psychology, from Northcentral University.
