Discover Your Passion & Purpose
The most effective way to discover your passion is to figure out what’s important to you. What matters more than anything in this world? What subject or idea could you talk about for hours without a break? What subject interests you so much that you may consider yourself an expert?
For me, I found my passion in leadership development of people who work in healthcare. I wanted to help the people who are saving and impacting lives do that more effectively. I found this passion by trying different positions in organizations. I refused to specialize in any one thing but learned a bit about everything until I figured out what I loved. What I love to do is to develop others as leaders.
Once you know your passion, you then have to figure out what you are good at. Just because you are passionate about it, doesn’t mean that you are good at it. You might be passionate about finance but not good at numbers or vice versa. Your passion and skill expertise might be mutually exclusive. You have to figure out what you are good at and then become great at it. When you know what you are great at, coupled with your knowledge of your passion, you find your purpose.
